This is an interesting site where your students can practice listening, song dictation, fill in gaps. Choose from the large number of songs. My choice is the song "I'll be there for you" with some good lines for practicing superlatives.

Comparative and superlative with Excel

One use of Excel in language classes is for creating interactive crossword puzzles. Here are two more.

•  Use the IF formula to make assessment worksheets where if the students answers are correct, they get points.
• Use the drop-down menu for true- false answers.

When I first "met" Excel I thought it wasn't for me because Excel was all about Math calculations. However, I started exploring and came across Internet for classrooms, a site with excellent tutorials for teachers and Excel has become my best friend. Here is a crossword puzzle I made following step by step instructions from the site. I used the free puzzle maker to create the crossword first.

Halloween test II

I like using poetry in my classes. I used this poem in the Halloween test for my six graders.I adapted it to get more verbs in present continuous tense.

My Halloween test

 My dear friend teachermarija and her post on Halloween test inspired me to try that in my classroom.So I put up this pre-test for my eight graders. I wanted to assess the relative pronouns WHO and THAT, the order of adjectives and the use of used to all that wrapped up into Halloween vocabulary.  I must say it was a huge success. As a follow up, I plan to assess these tests with
excellent= magic potion;
not bad= vampire bite;
 should try harder= skeleton bones

In for HALLOWEEN

It's the spookiest time of the year again. So, I decided to put a twist to the Mother Goose rhyme  The house that Jack built. I'm not sure that I'm that original, but my main purpose was "to kill two flies with one strike"- to present relative pronouns to my eight graders and to have a Halloween topic. So, this is my version of the familiar nursery rhyme.
